Tabards prove a mixed blessing
Letchworth Howard Rotary Club’s traditional bright yellow tabards proved a mixed blessing for the stalwarts manning the club’s stall at the Armed Forces Day event in Letchworth town centre on Sunday June 26 – they attracted a phalanx of small flies thriving in the mix of sun and rain that had characterised the previous week. Tabards abandoned, the stall itself proved a big success in attracting interest from passers-by at the event in the town’s Broadway Gardens. The theme was Rotary’s response to world disasters, including the humanitarian aid provided in the current refugee crisis, with a Shelterbox and contents forming a pivotal part of the display.
